Artist Joan A Brown Most Recent Completed Works
The above 3-pc set is my first attempt at working with acrylic Gesso and oils in combination, a technique I watched Bob Ross using. The entire canvas is painted first with a layer of black gesso then the major elements are layered in using varying values of black and white gesso. Finally once the gesso dries, I apply a less detail version of a landscape in colored oil on top of the gesso. The result of this Artist Joan A Brown Most Recent Completed Works is a bit more abstract than I am use to painting but I enjoy the concept of combining these two mediums. On my easel below, I am working on another piece this time using burnt umber gesso as the base core painting…not really sure where I am going with this one yet.

“Painting connects me to a deeper level of myself, as well as to the subjects I create on canvas. From a young age I have been Painting the Canadian landscapes and it remains my favourite subject to paint. I enjoy expressing myself through recreating any subject that challenges me creatively on or off the canvas. I am very happy to share a few of my creative works with you here on the Artist Joan A Brown website.
